How did you come to be involved with Future Beef NZ?
I became involved with Future Beef in 2012 when I competed with Taratahi Hawkes Bay showing for the Syme family that have Hiwiroa Shorthorns.

What is your favourite part of the Hoof and Hook competition?
As a competitor it was meeting like minded people and making great friendships. As a committee member its seeing New Zealand Youth achieve there goals succeed in the primary sector.

Why do you think a competition like hoof and hook is important to the industry?
Future Beef provides so many opportunities within New Zealand and overseas. Also with the amount of support from our sponsors it provides many contacts within the industry. It also provides a great platform with the hook part for breeders to show what they are producing.

Whats your key role on the committee?
My key roles on the weekend of competition is steer sign in/registration, stewarding out the back before competitors enter the ring, and branding and loading the steers.

Whats the best advice (life or career) that you’ve ever been given?
Do what makes you happy.
