In 2018 the FBNZ Hoof and Hook competition will be in it’s twelfth year and has been a growing success story.

We welcome anyone who may be interested to participate in the ‘Hoof & Hook’ event; there is no prior or expected level of experience required. The weekend involves steer and heifer classes, stock judging, paraders classes and a variety of hands-on educational modules. The weekend is aimed at 8—24 year olds from all walks of life.

Here is what some of our participants have to say about the event….

I like it because it brings participants from all over NZ. It’s a great way to spend time with people of all ages who love farming like I do. I learn new skills and information about agriculture through a range of activities. I get to show my animal handling skills.

Nicholas Verry, 11

I have participated in Hoof and Hook for the past two years and have really enjoyed myself. I decided to enter to learn more about cattle handling and showing as well as meeting quality people.

Sam Tipping, 23

I love doing the Hoof and Hook event; I look forward to it every year because i learn so much from the people in the industry and it is a very enjoyable event. You make friends from all over NZ that are interested in the same thing as you.
